Mike Gao is my guest for the 32nd episode of my radio show on killradio.org recorded live December 12, 2011. I played a few tunes before we got started with an interview. We spoke about a number of things, like apartment hunting in Los Angeles, moving through musical phases, the San Diego music scene and more. Mike Gao spoke about his iOS apps including details about when he may release Poly Playground, his eagerly anticipated iPad app. We also discussed his upcoming releases including his split 12" with Daisuke Tanabe which comes out on February 17, 2012 through Project: Mooncircle and Finest Ego. After our chat he performed a 45 minute live in studio set featuring his iPad app as well as original beats, remixes, plus a few choice cuts from fellow producers. Definitely worth listening to more than once.
Solo show this week. Changed up the tempo a couple of times from slow head nodders and classic beats to some Nortec, Juke, and even a 3ball track. I played music from J1, Dibiase, Dimlite, Mike Gao, Co.fee, TOKiMONSTA, Samiyam, Rita Indiana, Depakote, KONE, Sonnymoon, Ritmo Machine, Dirtraid, Control Machete, and more.
Mix I did for my show before the Thanksgiving holiday. I only played music by artists who have appeared on the radio show. Tremendous thank you to all guests and listeners for your support over the last six months.
Culture Remixed streams live every Monday from 8-10PM with lives guests almost every week.
I have two guests this week for a great episode of the radio show. Mast is first with a live performance utilising electronic production through Ableton Live with a midi keyboard and electric guitar adding live sounds. After a short interview with Mast, Fat Albert Einstein does an interview discussing his just released album After the Beep. Once the interview is over Fat Albert Einstein takes over the airwaves playing lots of music from the album and a number of other tracks he is a part of, some unreleased material to be sure. Lots of excusives.
Sit back grab your favorite beverage and enjoy the show.
Culture Remixed airs live every Monday 8-10PM Pacific time.
The 26th edition of Culture Remixed Radio fell on Halloween. The first hour is your soundtrack to the Zombie Apocalypse. The second hour is dedicated to the Day of the Dead or día de los muertos, and features music more in keeping with the spirit of that celebration. I don't really give the names of the tracks to make more room for the music. Enjoy.
Some of the artists played include:
EL-P, UNKLE, Justin Bieber, Depakote, Gonja Sufi,
Rage Against the Machine, Mexicans with Guns, Mexican Institute of Sound,
Coco Rosie, Caifanes, Cafe Tacvba, Chayito Valdez, Fabulosos Cadillacs,
Maldita Vecindad, Balck Sabbath
Culture Remixed airs every Monday from 8-10PM Pacific time. The radio show on October 24, 2011, featured two guests. Deadkidsyntax and Leagues came by the killradio.org studio in Korea Town. The Los Angeles based producers talked about how they got their start making music as well as current projects before each doing a live in-studio music set. It was definitely a fun time as the bass rattled the building and the internet.
