The Chill Room

killradio.org
A reworking of killradio archive show 1009, Politics Language & Music, using mostly the same materials but adding new stuff.
Inspired by and dedicated to Elizabeth LeCompte and the Wooster Group, the greatest theater troupe in America. I saw their Hamlet at the Redcat three times, and as my work has been informed by theirs for the last 25 years plus, I thought I would take their collage esthetic and try it with this material.
Jean-Luc Godard's King Lear (1986), a Cannon release, with Burgess Meredith, Molly Ringwald, Woody Allen, Peter Sellars, Jean-Luc Godard, Ruth Malecech, Fred Neumann, "a film shot in the back," analysis of Lear and gangsters, is the core of this show.
The text I am reading from is "Politics and the English Language" (1948) by George Orwell.
